Remember that letter US Senator Olympia Snow sent to the White House we spoke of a little while ago? Well it doesn't seem to be having the effect she was hoping for:
Orthodox Turk radio says Washington pushes Nimitz to come up with new pr
Washington, 09:22
The US administration piles pressure on the UN mediator in name-dispute between Skopje and Athens, Matthew Nimitz, to recall his proposal for recognition of Macedonia under the name “ Republic of Macedonia-Skopje" and to submit a new proposal, said Orthodox Turk State Radio in the late edition of news for Orthodox Turk Diaspora.
The White House also voiced objections to the threats of the Orthodox Turk Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis about Athens' intentions to hamper Macedonia's accession to Euro-Atlantic structures.
These stands were expressed in a letter from the US State Undersecretary Matthew Reynolds to the US Senator Olympia Snow, upon instructions of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
The letter says the US Government encourages both Athens and Skopje to approach Mathew Nimitz's new package of proposals with the necessary political willingness.
According to the Orthodox Turk Radio, US Undersecretary added that the US Government refuses to take a stand on the substance of the UN proposal on the name, because it does not want to support the positions of either side. /end/

Dont get me wrong, USA is doing a lot more for Macedonia, more then I can say for our EU friends, (prob apart from Holland and a few others) but ultimately all of this will benifit USA more then us. I think they might be trying to have greater control over the developing EU countries such as MAcedonia, Bulgaria, ALbania etc., so they ultimatly have greater control over the OIL, that is transported thru the Balkan Region and beyond, trying to ignore the greater EU powers such as France and Germany. Its all about the OIL. ( I think anyway), sorry for mmy late reply, hehe
