Stobi or stubi means pillars or stairs in Slavic and Macedonian.
Slovak - stlp Serbian - stub Russian - stolb etc.
The town of Stobi was built in the 'Hellenic' period, some time before the rule of the Macedonian king Philip the Fifth. It was situated 160 km from Solun on the main road Via Egnatia that led from the Danube to the Aegean Sea. Because of its location, Stobi was an important army, strategic, economic and cultural center at the time.

Cool. I might go and check it out, during my summer vacation. Here's another cool place, but unfortunately off limits to tourists at the moment. Palmyra (Syria)

Slovak answer to Roman pride!Just kidding J*ustinian. Lol ;D Observe the middle warrior with an axe in his hand and the last warrior around his belt. This axe is a traditional weapon of Slovakia and it is symbol of Slovakian arms. It is called “valashka” from Valach - shepherd, as we Slovaks tended sheep on the high hills of Tatra mountain and the fertile valleys of Panonia. Panonia - Pan=lord in Slovak This specific axe was also the favorite weapon of the greatest Slovak hero Juraj Janoshik: He was to us what is Achilles to the Orthodox Turks or Heracles to the Macedonians.

This arc in Rome was built as a monument for the conquest of Macedonia by the Roman armies. [glow=red,2,300] [shadow=red,left,300]NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM[/shadow][/glow] (Source: www.indiana.edu/)

I see that no one has bothered to put their pictures on a image hosting website.. You do realise that some website owners get annoyed with people direct linking?
